Humidity is just amazing.....
ALL NATURAL HAIR - This shares my hair journey back to my natural roots and thereafter. I transitioned from my relaxer for a year and did my BC on July 3, 2009. All information on this site is based on my experiences & opinions. I am not a certified hair anything, but I am becoming a certified expert on my hair. ;) I will also be throwing in some random gems I would like to share such as recipes, beauty tips, fashion & crafts goodies.

More Los Cabos Vacation Hair
The natives of Los Cabos were quite fascinated by my hair. I received many compliments and got at least 5 requests a day to touch my hair.
Here are some random hair shots during my vacation. Towards the end it did get... a bit out of control lol, but DON'T CARE!!! I did moisten & retwist one of the days, but other than that, I did nothing to it asides from a morning conditioner rub & fluff it out.

My Holiday Party Updo
My job had a dress-up holiday party this year Yea! I had initally intended to straighten my hair, as I have been promising to straighten my hair since my July. Well, it didn't happen; the day just got away fron me and before I knew it, it was 90 minutes before the time I had planned to leave with no solid outfit & no hair do!
I had been wearing a twistout all week and I wanted something a little more festive and glam. My hair finally decided to cooperate with a high bun LOL! I heavily misted with rosewater, put some avocado butter on for shine & smoothed it up into a bun. I put a scarf on to smooth it out a bit while I figured out what to put on.
When I took the scarf off, it was cute....but not the look I had envisioned. It needed more....more volume! I pulled out some 4a/4b hair tracks from my hair stash for the solution. I undid my bun and placed some in the middle of my hair for a filler & redid my bun, so that my hair was on the outside of the bun. I sprinkled a few sparkle hair pins around and it looked much better.
I would have liked to smoothed it back down, but it was time to fly! What do you think ladies?

Twistout results later in the week
I decided I needed to retwist on Wednesday to help keep my hair together; I also had a Saturday night outing and didn't want to have to start over with a wash & restyle. I just misted my hair with rose water & put a touch of castor oil on the length of the twist. This worked out great & my hair lasted thru to Sunday :)

I even found a hat big enough for my big head & big twistout hair!! Yea!!

Twistout results
I wore my hair in a high bun(twists) for the rest of the week. It is so nice to just get up in the morning and not have to concern myself with any hair manipulation at all! And my hair still feels moisturized, when I grab it, even the ends, it is springy, soft & able to be squished, not crunchy or stiff like it sometimes does by Day 5.
I took the twists done on Day 5. Here are some of my twist out results: I wore it down some and in a ponytail too. It was really defined at first, but I kept playing with it , so I lost some of the definition in spots. Oddly, I actually prefer my twist outs to be on the messy looking side vs just taking the twists a loose and leaving them neat.

Twists
I had my hair in twists all last week, so I am craving to do something fun to it. Twists are great- low maintenance, versatile styling, looks good, can be easily accessorized.....but afterwhile, I just get bored with them!!! Adding headbands, scarves, crochet flowers & hair bling helps....

Combing out my twistout
Normally when I have a twistout I really don't touch it much other than arranging the ends so nothing is sticking out really crazy. However, my texture was such with the Set It free, that I took a chance & fingercombed my hair out to make it bigger :)
So I lightly spritzed the ends with rosewater & after fingercombing it to loosen the twist pattern, I did about 6 chunky twists to prevent it from curling back up on itself. In the morning, I pulled the top half back with an EZ Comb & tucked it under, I left the back out. I kind of like it, what do you think ladies?

Outcome from blowdried hair
It has been quite humid this week, but my blowdry has lasted in the best shape, especially given I didn't use any anti-humidity products.
After taking down the bun, I decided to do a low puff with the assistance of a few bobby pins.

Then later in the week I decided to do about 10 chunky twists, misted with aloe vera & this was the outcome:

Got weave checked today!
So today was second day with the knot out. I wore a scarf that coordinated with my outfit.
Two of my co-workers came by & said my hair looked so nice & full. One of them(always in a wig) said that's not your hair. I said yes it is, she said again no it is not, I should pull it to see and PROCEEDED TO LIGHTLY TUG AT MY HAIR....then she apologizes Oh I am so sorry, I really did not believe that it was your hair. I really could not believe she did that! If she wasn't an older lady, I suppose I would have have handled differently, even though at her age she really knows better than to tug at someones hair....
The other co-worker said she wanted to get rid of her perm, but always failed after a few months due to excessive breaking. She then began asking for transition tips once I told her I was perm free and how I had transitioned for a year before doing my BC, so I was supportive to her.
Here is my hair today:
I am so happy to have another style besides twists!!
