I even found a hat big enough for my big head & big twistout hair!! Yea!!
ALL NATURAL HAIR - This shares my hair journey back to my natural roots and thereafter. I transitioned from my relaxer for a year and did my BC on July 3, 2009. All information on this site is based on my experiences & opinions. I am not a certified hair anything, but I am becoming a certified expert on my hair. ;) I will also be throwing in some random gems I would like to share such as recipes, beauty tips, fashion & crafts goodies.

Twistout results later in the week
I decided I needed to retwist on Wednesday to help keep my hair together; I also had a Saturday night outing and didn't want to have to start over with a wash & restyle. I just misted my hair with rose water & put a touch of castor oil on the length of the twist. This worked out great & my hair lasted thru to Sunday :)

Fall also = Cognac Martini
In addition to using pumpkin in everything I can think of in the fall, I am like a darker beverage to sip on, some brandy, cognac, Jack or Myers. I pulled out my cognac & decided to make myself a nice chilled warming martini. This is a serious drink, you will taste the alcohol.
Yak Martini
2 1/2 oz cognac (I like De Marsy XO)
1 oz limoncello ( I love Caravella)
1 oz Cointreau ( I used Controy, purchased in Mexico)
1/2 oz simple syrup (always have a batch in the fridge)
juice of half a lime (sadly I didn't have fresh which is the best)
Fill your shaker 1/2 full with ice, add all above ingredients. Shake it like a Polaroid picture. Pour into chilled martini glass & use a maraschino cherry for decoration. Gaze at the ice crystals floating on the top! ENJOY!

Simplicity In Twists
This fall, it is taking some transitioning to get re-accustomed to the chill in the air, the mornings being darker, the days being shorter....And a newer experience for me, having to venture outside with still damp hair from twists done the day before. This same chill that allows me to rock my suede boots, glazed leathers & cashmere scarves is not so nice for damp hair.
My regimen this week:
I took them down on Saturday & seperated the sections for a wild woman look ;)
My regimen this week:
- Pre-poo overnight with Aubrey
- Shampoo with Giovanni 50/50
- DC with a mix of Na-PCA & Hair Rules Quench Conditioner
- BWC Leave-in Conditioner
- Sealed with Castor Oil & Monoi Tiki Tahiti Oil
- Hair Rules Curly Whip on each section
- Twisted & placed on rollers

Indian Summer Hair Day
So today, the temperature is over 80 degrees!!! In October in Chicago, it is so unbelievable & NICE!!! Since I figured it is the last day this warm for over 5 months or so, I decided it would be nice to do my hair early today & let it just air dry, hoping it will be dry by this evening.
This was probably the last time this year I will be able to go outside with uncovered wet hair. I miss summer already!
- I started off by shampooing with Giovanni Tea Tree ( still my fav!)
- DC with a mix of Joico Moisture Recovery & Ojon Tawaka Rejuvenating Conditioner with heat for 30 minutes
- Rinsed & spritzed with Na-Pca, massaged into hair
- Rinsed & sectioned hair into quarters
- Applied BWC leave-in
- Sealed with Castor oil
- Applied a dab of Fantasia Frizz Buster Serum to each section before twisting
- Twisted and allowed to air dry while sitting outside on deck :)

Lazy Daisy, Rockin Twistout For More Than A Week
So, Sunday is supposed to be hair day....BUT I DON'T FEEL LIKE IT! I know I should, but my hair still is soft & moisturized, I haven't used a bunch of different products on my hair this week, so I was thinking....maybe, just maybe, I can make this work another 4 days for work this week. To help with definition, I decide to spritz with Aloe Vera gel & re-twist my hair into about 12-15 chunky twists, put rollers on them to keep them stretched out while drying & rock a twistout, if I have to retwist on Wednesday so be it, at least I don't have to spend hours on my hair today.
Here are my results:
Looks like my 2 or 3 day twistout, which is a-OK with me for the time saved!
